UN Habitat + Fryshuset = True
Fryshuset initiates cooperation with UN-Habitat, United Nations Human Settlements Programme
Last Tuesday, the cooperation between Fryshuset and UN Habitat had been established by the signing of a”Memorandum of Understanding”, between the UN Habitat’s Executive Director, Ms Maimunah Mohd Sharif and Fryshusets CEO, Johan Oljeqvist.
Earlier this year Fryshuset has signed a letter of intent on cooperation with UN Habitat, the UN body for the development of better urban environments. Together, Fryshusetand Habitat will, within the framework of the Safer Cities program, create a global youth platform where young people in different countries will have the opportunity to participate in and influence the design of future cities. The secretariat will be situated at Fryshuset in Stockholm.
Among other things, joint leadership training programs will be designed to enable young people to contribute to creating safer urban environments. Also, “Safety Labs” will be established in a number of selected cities in collaboration with local universities or other knowledge centers, collecting and documenting innovative ideas and experiences from a youth perspective. Furthermore, “Annual Global Youth and Safer Cities Days” are held each year in October in numerous cities around the world. The content of the program are a wide range of activities linked to youth participation in the work of increased security and security.
