Study trip to Armenia organized by Forum Syd
The aim of the EaP is to strengthen the ties between EU and Armenia, Azerbadjan, Georgia, Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine. Fryshuset is member of the social society network within the EaP.
Last week Martin Dworén, Senior Advisor at Fryshuset, participated in a study trip to Armenia, organized by Forum Syd within the framework of EU’s Eastern Partnership Network. The purpose of the visit was to find potential cooperation partners to the participating 11 Swedish NGOs.
Martin had constructive meetings with leading representatives of the City of Yerevan and of a number of youth organisations, i a Armenia Progressive Youth (APY), ”a non-profit, non-political organization aiming to support, inspire and engage young people from Armenia and all over the world to develop their social leadership skills, to take their civic responsibility and to act as change-makers. Through different projects, initiatives and non-formal education tools we help young people to succeed, ensuring that they develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and competences to fit to the modern world.”
Another interesting NGO, based in Gyumri, Armenia’s second city, is Youth Initiative Centre (YIC), working ”to contribute to the improvement of the social-economic conditions for the youth, to promote youth imitativeness, and to contribute to increasing the role of young people in the society.”
Contacts with both APY and YIC will be followed up to see if and how we can establish some kind of cooperation.
